You educate yourself about skincare to confidently look your best. Anti-aging is a major part of that - and you know you’re not getting any younger. So now is the time to make sure your skincare efforts are having the positive effects you’re looking for.
One important part of a men’s skincare routine is exfoliation. But what is it, why is it important, and is this only a face care thing?
What Is Exfoliation?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (ADA), “exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the outer layer of your skin.” As skin cells mature and die, they collect on the outer layer of your skin. When they build up, it can cause skin irritation and dull your natural, healthy appearance.
When it comes to exfoliating your face, we’ve got you covered with our Renewing Face Scrub - a natural and gentle formula of skin exfoliation ingredients.
For Dry or Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive or dry skin, you only need to use face scrub once or twice a week. Guys with oily skin can exfoliate 3-4 times per week to get the best results.
For Shaving
Want to upgrade your shave routine? Exfoliate or cleanse first with face scrub. This will open your pores, stand your hairs up and away from your face, and leave you prepped for the best shave ever.
Everything Else
But exfoliating isn’t just for your face. You’ve got dead skin cells mucking up your style all over your body. Here’s how to incorporate exfoliation and get the best results.
Scrubbing Your Scalp
You know the importance of using shampoo and conditioner regularly. These products leave your hair clean and healthy while also stimulating your scalp and promoting hair growth.
If you have thinning hair, you don’t want to go too wild while shampooing. Gently rub the shampoo through your hair without tugging or yanking.
But your scalp needs specific attention - especially if you often have flakes or thinning hair. When you use shampoo or conditioner, make sure you get a good scalp massage in. Scratch (gently) at your scalp to scrub away accumulated dead skin cells.
What’s the benefit? You will stimulate blood flow to the scalp and prevent hair follicles from getting clogged by all those dead cells. The result is fuller, thicker hair and less flakes.
Scrub in the Shower
You can get rough patches of skin and acne breakouts all over your body. This is not a face-only issue. So you need to add exfoliation to your shower routine in order to keep your skin in top shape.
Great news - our Exfoliating Body Wash was specifically designed to address these concerns. It scrubs way dirt, oil, and debris with bamboo, pumice, and charcoal. That leaves your skin clean, soft, and rejuvenated - just what you want.
Don’t Overdo It
Like so many things in life, exfoliating is great when done in moderation. You don’t need to scrub aggressively at your scalp, face, and body everyday. Instead, make exfoliation part of your weekly skincare routine.
If you have sensitive skin, ease up a bit on the scrubbing and only use these techniques and products 1-2 times each week. But for guys with oily skin - and especially during the warm, sweaty months - scrubbing away dead skin is a must.
