Top 5 Hair Care Tips for Men

Some guys are dealt aces and born with great hair. However, that doesn’t mean you should throw up your hands and not try to better your own. Follow these 5 men’s haircare tips and you’ll immediately notice an impact on how awesome your hair looks.

1. Shampoo, but not every day

Your hair was not meant to be shampooed. The oils your scalp secrets that run down your hair are meant to nourish, protect, and keep it healthy. Shampoo simply strips them out, making your hair look dull and weak. Due to personal hygiene standards and our active, sweaty lifestyles though, a guy needs to shampoo his hair. Try shampooing only every other day though and you’ll see noticeable improvements in your hair. Remember, your hair should feel “slightly” oily after washing it, meaning the essential oils are still intact. Learn the best way to take care of your hair based upon your hair type.

2. Condition your hair every few days

Even the most gentle, natural shampoos for men can remove the needed oils from your hair. Conditioner helps put them back, helping grow hair and keep it healthy. Unless you have really long hair, most men only need to condition a few times a week, making sure to work it into your scalp and the ends of your hair.

3. Take care of your scalp

The scalp is the genesis from where a man’s hair grows – treat it like royalty. Follow steps 1 & 2 above and avoid scolding hot showers. Your hair’s health is a direct reflection of your scalps health.

4. Be Gentle

Avoid vigorously drying your hair with a towel, blow drying, scolding hot showers, and any type of pulling of the hair. Once a follicle or hair is damaged from the above, it’s gone forever.

5. Be careful what you style your hair with

Styling your hair can actually hurt it. Shampoos and conditioners filled with toxic chemicals are not as highly absorbed into the scalp, while styling products such as men’s pomade, hair gels, and waxes are. This means if you’re using product in your hair filled with known toxins, they can creep down your hair shaft into your follicle, wreaking havoc on hair growth and health.

Interesting and informative. I will follow these recommendations beginning NOW. Some of my loss, which has accelerated, is due to serious illness. Perhaps recommendations are warranted for these causes.
